Spectra is an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) cord that is pound-for-pound one of the strongest fibers known. Often used used in ballistic vests, Spectra is so light that it will float on water. That combination of light weight and high tensile strength make Spectra an ideal cord for emergency and survival applications. Be aware Spectra cord is so tough that certain knots will cause it to cut itself.
